There’s an app for that. No, really. Researchers from the Universities of Bath and Southampton found that using the free Medito app for daily mindfulness practice can significantly improve your health and well-being. Over 1,200 participants from 91 countries used the app just 10 minutes a day for 30 days. The results? A 19% reduction in depression symptoms, a 7% boost in well-being, and a 13% drop in anxiety. Participants also reported better health habits and improved sleep even a month after the study ended
Obviously, it doesn’t have to be this particular app. The lesson is that daily mindfulness, even for short periods of time, offers big benefits. “This study highlights that even short, daily practices of mindfulness can offer benefits, making it a simple, yet powerful tool for enhancing mental health,” says Masha Remskar, the lead researcher from the University of Bath.
