Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines has found a new way to squeeze cash out of passengers, with a "crew appreciation fee" that adds up to between $17 and $19 per person per day. The company promises that money that comes from this additional fee will be pooled and distributed to crewmembers working in various departments in the form of compensation and bonuses. Passengers are told they can opt-out, with the guilt-inducing note, “In the unlikely event you remain dissatisfied for any reason, the Crew Appreciation is subject to adjustment, at your discretion."
