If you’re a Gen Zer or a Millennial, the answer is probably social media. A new survey found that almost 80% of Millennial and Gen Z respondents say they get financial advice from social media platforms like TikTok. 62% of Gen Zers say they turn to TikTok to learn about money matters by so called “finfluencers.” Of course, this is alarming to some, with critics saying while there are some credible financial advisors out there, there are also some shady ones, offering not just bad advice but potential scams. That’s why there’s a call for more regulatory oversight on these financial influencers.
